- Some of this may be old stuff.....

-
- Dear List Subscribers,
-
- As it appears and as most of us had expected, it is extremely
- difficult to cut down the volume of the Mail on gem-list, I will therefore
- kindly ask all member of the gem-list to digest their mail.
-
- In other words, read the mail and then respond to 4-5 different
- people in one mailing to the list, this will make it a lot easier to read
- and handle, especially for people who are on Mausnetz.

-
- Dear List Subscribers,
-
- I have discussed with several people on the topic of how to cut
- down mail and make the list much more manageable. Thankfully the volume of
- Mail has indeed been cut down to an average of 15 or less messages a day,
- as supposed to 40+ messages a day. However we were considering the fact
- that there will be many more members on this list at a later time, and that
- the messages per day will probably exceed the quota of other email services
- (maus or commercial services who pay extra for internet email).
-
- We have decided to only talk about one specific topic, and
- that all other topics be currently set aside. Proposals for a new
- discussion topic should be sent to gem-list-proposal@lexicor.com, with
- a reasonable text on discussion and/or justification. The new proposals
- will then be queued and as soon as one topic has been discussed and decided
- upon, the next proposal will be released.
-
- It is upto the person who has made the proposal to decide when it
- is a good time to make the list approve of the proposed standard. Although
- we haven't agreed on how this should be decided, I am always looking
- forward to new suggestions, so far it might look like that we have to vote
- on certain issues.
-
- It is essentially upto the list members to decide on certain
- points, and most of us expect that this can be done in a reasonably timely
- fashion, in other words it doesn't help if we talk about one issue for
- several months, it should only take a few weeks at the most.
-
- Once a certain topic has been agreed the results will be posted
- on all services available in an on-line magazine fashion.
-
- I will kindly ask that anyone who has a new proposal to please email
- to the gem-list-proposal@lexicor.com, at present currently discussed topics
- will remain in discussion.
-
- gem-list-request@lexicor.com is a new setup that is not quite
- implemented, the only commands that currently works it get gem-list, this
- will forward you all the mail currently discussed from day one in gem-list.
- I archive all the messages and hope that very soon I can specify user, date
- and/or time frame for the message retrieval service. This is to further
- assist new members who join in the middle of a discussion.
-
- Sincerely,
-
- Yat Siu (list-admin)
-
-
-
- ps: suggestions, improvements, thoughts please email to
- gem-list-admin@lexicor.com.
